Description
Lactisole Inhibition of Glucose-Sensing Receptors
Lactisole is a compound known to inhibit the glucose-sensing receptor T1R3, which is expressed in mouse pancreatic β-cells. It has been shown to reduce insulin secretion induced by sweeteners and glucose by attenuating the elevation of cytoplasmic Ca2+ concentration. However, lactisole does not affect the elevation of intracellular cAMP concentration induced by these sweeteners. This suggests that lactisole may be a useful tool in assessing the role of the glucose-sensing receptor in mouse pancreatic β-cells
