2,2'-Dihydroxydiphenylmethane used for
2,2'-Dihydroxydiphenylmethane (DHPM) is a quaternary ammonium compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of Trichophyton mentagrophytes, an organism that causes athlete's foot. DHPM is also able to bind to metal surfaces and form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, leading to the formation of hydroxyl radicals.
