Synthesis of Antimicrobial Agents
3-Methyl-4-nitrobenzohydrazide is used in synthesizing hydrazide-hydrazones with potential antimicrobial activity. This compound, when cyclized with acetic anhydride, forms 3-acetyl-2,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazolines, some of which display significant antimicrobial effects, particularly against Staphylococcus spp.
