Product Features
Molybdenum carbide has the characteristics of high melting point and hardness, good thermal stability and mechanical stability and excellent corrosion resistance. Molybdenum is a silvery-white refractory metal with a melting point of 2615℃, a density of 10.2 g/cm3, and a small expansion coefficient, which is almost the same as the expansion coefficient of special glass for electron tubes. Molybdenum is stable at room temperature and will oxidize rapidly above 600℃. It reacts with carbon, hydrocarbons or carbon monoxide at above 800℃ to form molybdenum carbide. Molybdenum carbide Mo2C=203.88, contains 5.89% carbon, is a dark gray metallic powder, and its crystallization is a close-packed hexagonal lattice. Density 9.18g/cm3, melting point 2690℃.
Product Application
1. Commonly used for particle-reinforced alloys. Molybdenum carbide has an electronic structure and catalytic properties similar to those of precious metals, and has catalytic activity in hydrogen denitrification, hydrogenolysis and isomerization reactions. Molybdenum carbide is similar to platinum group noble metals in many aspects, especially its hydrogenation activity is comparable to that of noble metals such as Pt and Pd, and it is expected to become a substitute for noble metals.
2. As a new type of functional material with very high melting point and hardness, good thermal stability and mechanical stability, and excellent corrosion resistance, it has been widely used in various fields such as high temperature resistance, friction resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. It has an electronic structure and catalytic properties similar to those of noble metals, and can be widely used as a catalyst for reactions involving hydrogen, such as alkane isomerization, unsaturated hydrocarbon hydrogenation, hydrodesulfurization and denitrogenation. It has high hardness, wear resistance and scratch resistance. It is an important component of molybdenum-molybdenum carbide hard coating and other metal ceramic coatings, and can also be used alone as a wear-resistant and scratch-resistant coating.
