Introduction and application of YTTRIUM SULFATE OCTAHYDRATE | CAS：7446-33-5
Overview The chemical formula of yttrium sulfate-octahydrate is Y2(SO4)3•8H2O. Molecular weight 610.12. Pink monoclinic crystals. Relative density 2.558. Yttrium sulfate-octahydrate is insoluble in ethanol and alkali, but soluble in water and concentrated sulfuric acid. It loses 8 molecules of water at 120℃. It decomposes at 700℃. Anhydrous yttrium sulfate is a white powder with a relative density of 2.52. Add dilute sulfuric acid to a neutral aqueous solution of yttrium nitrate or a solution of yttrium oxide dissolved in a small amount of dilute hydrochloric acid, stir thoroughly, and then add 95% ethanol to obtain yttrium sulfate-octahydrate octahydrate, and then heat the latter to 300-400℃ to dehydrate and obtain anhydrous.
