Introduction and application of Psyllium | CAS:8063-16-9
Chemical properties: light yellow-brown powder with a slightly special smell. The aqueous solution is highly viscous and can form a filamentous transparent solution. When the aqueous solution is heated to 90°C, a viscoelastic gel is formed. It has a weak water holding capacity and is easy to dry. It first swells when it meets water, and then gradually hydrates. If the hydration time or speed is not enough, it is easy to become granular. Uses: thickener, stabilizer, gelling agent, binder. Mainly used in ice cream and chocolate. Production method: It is obtained by crushing the outer skin of the seeds of plantain (Plantagoovata) or similar plants (seeds are egg-shaped, 1 to 3 mm long and 0.5 to 1.5 mm wide). It is mainly produced in the Mediterranean coast of Europe and India.
Use: Used as internal plasticizer, can be copolymerized with a variety of monomers, the resulting copolymer is used to enhance plasticity
