Introduction and application of trans,trans-Muconic acid | CAS:3588-17-8
Chemical properties: White prismatic crystals. Melting point: 301℃. 1g can be dissolved in about 5L of 15℃ water, hot ethanol and glacial acetic acid. Use: Used in organic synthesis. Production method: Dissolve 3kg of potassium hydroxide in 5L of methanol, stir, and drop 1130g of α,δ-dibromoadipate diethyl ester heated to 100℃. Adjust the feeding rate so that the reactants reflux more vigorously. Continue heating and stirring for 2h after adding. Leave at room temperature overnight, filter out 2,4-hexanedioic acid potassium salt and potassium bromide. Dissolve the filter cake in 8L of hot water, add 30g of activated carbon, boil, and filter. After the filtrate is cooled, add concentrated hydrochloric acid to acidify. Filter out the product, wash, and dry to obtain 165-195g of 2,4-hexanedioic acid. The yield is 37%-43%.
