D-kynurenine is an agonist of G protein-coupled receptor GPR109B, and D-kynurenine is a substrate for fluorescence analysis of D-amino acid oxidase. D-kynurenine promotes the transformation of epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells by activating the aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AHR).
