Product introduction
Introduction and application of (S)-(+)-Epichlorohydrin | CAS:67843-74-7
Chemical properties: Dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin is a colorless or light yellow liquid at room temperature and pressure. The epoxy ring in its structure has high tension and instability, so the three-membered ring of dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin is easy to undergo ring-opening reactions. The ring-opening reaction of the epoxy ring usually occurs under the attack of nucleophilic reagents, such as water, alcohol, amine, etc., to form the corresponding ring-opening products. For example, the ring-opening reaction of the epoxy ring can react with water to form glycidol. Application: Dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin is a derivative of propylene oxide, which is mostly used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical chemistry, and is mostly used in the synthesis and modification of chiral drug molecules and bioinhibitors. Synthesis Add (S)-3-chloropropane-1,2-diol (20.0 g, 181 mmol) and potassium carbonate (30 g, 217 mmol) to a dry reaction flask, and finally add tetrahydrofuran as the reaction solvent. Heat the resulting reaction mixture to reflux and stir the reaction under reflux for 10 h. After the reaction is completed, evaporate the solvent directly from the reaction mixture under reduced pressure to obtain the target product. It should be noted that the product dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin has a low boiling point, so special attention should be paid during post-treatment. Figure Synthesis route of dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin Chemical properties Boiling point 92-93 °C (360 mmHg). Uses As a potential metabolic regulator, it is used to synthesize fatty acid oxidation inhibitors; used in the total synthesis of Macquarimicins and the total synthesis of macrolide RK-397; used for the enantioselective synthesis of chiral structural units of hydroxyisoxazolidine and (+)-cis-sylvaticin (a potential anti-tumor agent) Uses Dextrorotatory epichlorohydrin can be used for the synthesis of chiral intermediates and chiral drugs.
