Product introduction
Introduction and application of MANGANESE SILICIDE | CAS:12032-86-9
2g (0.036mol) of manganese, 2g (0.071mol) of silicon and 10g (0.16mol) of copper were placed in a 10mL Al2O3 crucible in a quartz ampoule with one end open. After evacuation and sealing, the ampoule was placed in a carbon silicon rod high temperature furnace. The temperature was raised to 1200℃ within 12h and then cooled to 500℃ at a rate of 10℃/h. The ampoule was removed, cooled, and then inserted into a rubber tube with a thicker diameter. The ampoule was broken so that the metal ingot could be safely removed. The copper-rich Cu-Mn-Si matrix was dissolved in 8mol/L nitric acid, and octahedral crystals remained. These crystals were washed with water and dried to obtain MnSi2 crystals with edges up to 2mm. Several octahedral crystals were ground into powder and studied using the Guinier-Hagg technique (Cu rays). All diffraction lines can be catalogued according to the cubic unit cell, and α = (4.560 ± 0.001) A· (1A· = 0.1 nm, the same below) is within the allowable experimental error range of the previously reported MnSi2 lattice distance (4.558 ± 0.001). Since the ground crystals have very similar lattice constants to the previous products, it shows that most of the manganese has not been replaced by copper. This result is confirmed by the emission spectrum analysis of the crystals, indicating that the upper limit of the copper content is about 1%.
