Selumetinib, also known as AZD6244 and ARRY-142886, is a highly specific mitogen-activated protein kinase 1/2 (MEK1/2) inhibitor  . It is used to treat neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) in children 2 years of age and older who have plexiform neurofibromas that cannot be removed by surgery   .

Applications of Selumetinib CAS:606143-52-6

1.Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)
Selumetinib has shown promise in overcoming resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) in NSCLC.
2.Solid Tumor Management
As a selective MEK1 inhibitor, Selumetinib is being investigated for its efficacy in various solid tumors, including colorectal cancer, lung cancer, neurofibroma, and melanoma . Its role in the MAPK cascade makes it a significant agent in targeting the survival, propagation, and drug resistance of human cancers.

4.Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1)
5.Differentiated Thyroid Cancer (DTC)
Selumetinib has been granted Orphan Drug Designation in the US for the adjuvant treatment of DTC. It inhibits the MEK pathway in cancer cells to prevent tumor growth and is part of the Phase III ASTRA trial in patients with DTC who are at high risk of recurrence
